Directions – post your paper on the Essay Paper link using Turnitin. Turnitin provides you feedback on spelling, grammar , and punctuation mistakes, so that you can then go back in, fix any mistakes and resubmit before the due date & due time. Suggestion – work far enough ahead to use this advantage. Requirements – Write an essay concerning the assigned influential woman. Suggestions of facts to include: personal information, (birth, death, marriages, children, etc), historical information (time period or times she was/is influential), why she is influential (famous, known), degrees she attained (when, where, what), where she works, or what she does/did, information about her company or organization, and anything else that you can research about her. Paper must include a Reference page. Do not include an Abstract (not required). Paper to be evaluated on the following 6 Categories: Requirements and Format, Introduction, Body, Conclusion, Preparation of Paper, and Organization of paper. Points in each Category that can be earned include: • The student can earn 15 points per Category if they accomplish Advanced work • The student can earn 10 points per Category if they accomplish Proficient work • The student can earn 5 points per Category if they accomplish Needs Improvement work • The student can earn 2 points per Category if they do Unsatisfactory work *Students can earn a maximum of 80 points on the 6 Categories. Review exact grading rubric to understand objectives to be met within each Category. References – at least 5 different references are required; they must be current, from within the previous 5 years. References for your research and factual information should come from refereed journal articles or books, and websites. *Students can earn a maximum of 10 points on the References (each reference worth 2 points). References should be written in APA format. Format Requirements – Review exact grading rubric to understand any format requirements to be met within each Category. • Essay should be written using 12 Font & Times New Roman • Required length of paper (not counting the Reference page – 10 pages) • No abstract required • At the end of your paper include the References written in APA format; must use at least 5 different references; current, from within the previous 5 years. • Use the title ‘References’ for your Reference list. • Remember using APA format, References should be alphabetized by author’s last name, single spaced within each reference, and double spaced between each reference. The essay paper is double spaced, but the references follow the APA format. Review APA Guidelines for assistance. • References for your research and factual information MUST come from refereed journal articles, books, and/or websites • Wikipedia is not an appropriate source (reference) • Essay paper does NOT have to be in-text cited; just list your References at the end of your paper • Remember the rules on writing paragraphs; each new thought should use a new paragraph • Use critical thinking and writing! 3 sentences in a paragraph are not critical writing. There should be at least 5 well written sentences in a paragraph. • Indent paragraphs • Use complete sentences (of your own!) in paragraph format.
